What do you eat? The answer to that question is vital to our energy and well-being. One of the most effective steps toward better food choices is cooking at home from fresh ingredients. And — though this might surprise you — one of the most important first steps toward being able to cook delicious food at home is knife skills.
Preparing your own meals is a more satisfying, healthy, cost effective choice than eating out or buying pre-made foods. But many people tell me they can’t cook, or they don’t know what to cook, or they don’t have time.
I can help you there.
Most of my working life has been as a chef in the commercial fishing industry. As a graduate of Ferrandi Culinary School (Paris, France 1991) and an experienced chef, I can tell you that the first thing to learn is how to hold a knife.
How are your knife skills?
Most of us were never taught, so here’s your opportunity.
On Tuesday, August 15, I am offering a “Knife Skills” class at 4:00 p.m. PST. It will be on the Zoom platform. You can join me and get this extremely important basic skill under your belt.
This is a participatory class, so you’ll need your favorite knife, but Your camara can be off or on. The cost is just a donation, with 50 percent of the profit going toward the National Institute of Mental Health. If you have fun, and learn something, contribute what you feel is fair or what you can afford.
The class is limited to 10 people. Fill out the simple form below to hold your place.
Here’s what one of my recent attendees had to say:
I loved taking Colleen’s knife skills course – It was practical and fun, and I left having learned multiple valuable skills. The best part was being able to interact and ask questions. As someone still building my skills, getting confirmation that I’m on tract, from an expert, while practicing with my own knives and kitchen tools, from the comfort of my home, was totally priceless. – Amy B.
